Corporal Alvarez has been a GPD police officer since July of 1995 and he was appointed to the Juvenile Resource Detective position in April of 2007. He is responsible for tracking juveniles in the city of Gainesville who are on juvenile probation and home detention by documenting their status and providing that documentation to all GPD employees.

 

Corporal Alvarez also coordinates city-wide curfew sweeps and truancy sweeps. He is responsible for documenting juveniles who may be affiliated with gangs and he investigates reports of runaway juveniles who are on probation or home detention. Prior to becoming the Juvenile Resource Detective, he was the SRO Supervisor responsible for the supervision of seven school resource officers, and prior to that he was the school resource officer at A. Quinn Jones School.

 

Corporal Alvarez has a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Psychology and he is currently enrolled as a graduate student at Webster University seeking a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and School Guidance.
