Paul Doering is a Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy. He is also Co-Director of the statewide Drug Information and Pharmacy Resource Center here at the Health Sciences Center.

 

Mr. Doering received his B.S. degree in pharmacy from the University of Florida in l972 and continued his training at the same institution, earning the M.S. in Clinical Pharmacy in l975.

 

Mr. Doering teaches a variety of courses in the College of Pharmacy.  He is a guest lecturer in many other courses in the College of Pharmacy and other Health Professions Colleges.  In addition, he teaches a course for pharmacy students focusing on “street drugs” and their adverse effects.  He is a frequent speaker on the subject of drug prevention in middle, high school, and college classrooms.

 

For his hard work with students, Paul has been recognized five times as Teacher of the Year for the College of Pharmacy.  Mr. Doering was promoted to Distinguished Service Professor in April, 1995, the highest honor which can be awarded to a faculty member.  Mr. Doering was selected by the University of Florida's National Alumni Association as the 1997-98 "Distinguished Alumni Professor" for his sustained contributions to the students of the University of Florida.  In June of this year Mr. Doering was named a member of the University of Florida’s Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars for 2006.
